Sew-Along - The Utility Coat - Starts 20th April 2021
While we are all at home I thought it would be nice to sew along together.
This is a time to learn some new techniques, practice some trickier sewing and fill in any gaps in our wardrobes.
A relaxed, unlined coat with a hood or round-necked collar options. You could make this coat from a lightweight waterproof fabric, a medium weight woven or even a stretch fabric.
You will need to buy your pattern here
This sew-along will take place on Zoom, I will send out the link to join the Sew-Along the day before.
Let's have fun and make a fab summer coat :)
Materials Needed: For the coat without the hood, you will need 2.6m of 150cm wide medium weight woven fabric, 20cm of 115cm wide jersey fabric for the trim
With the hood, you will need 2.4m of 150cm wide woven fabric.
You will also need 10 buttons or snap fasteners, 40cm of 20mm elastic, 4.5m of 15mm cotton tape or 6.5m of 15mm cotton tape for the hooded version, and a matching thread.
Before the Sew-Along: there are a few things you can prepare before the day of the Sew-Along. Gather your tools together, wind a bobbin and thread your machine. You could also thread up your overlocker if you have one. Pre-wash or steam your fabric. Roughly cut out your pattern pieces to separate them.
