Workshops

Claire has been a seamstress and dressmaking tutor for many years and as well as taking commissions and teaching at Knitting and Stitching shows around the country also contributes features to sewing magazines and designed and made garments for one of the Great British Sewing Bee books - which accompanied the series.   Claire now teaches Dressmaking Workshops at

Workshops are for beginners and those wishing to improve their skills.  The beautiful sewing room has everything you need to create your garment.  Scissors, pins and all other haberdashery are there for you to use as well as Overlockers for neatening seams and hems.  

Workshops are for a maximum of 8, for 1-day workshops bring a packed lunch or you can go out at lunchtime and purchase from one of the many cafes nearby.  There will be lots of tea coffee and biscuits provided throughout the day

The Sewing Room is fully equipped with Janome Sewing Machines and Overlockers as well as all the tools you need to complete your project.  You are very welcome to bring your own machine and sewing box if you wish.,

Arriving by car

From M25 take the A3 south towards Guildford and Portsmouth.

Exit the A3 at Milford and take the A286 to Midhurst.

As you come into Midhurst there is a mini roundabout, turn left into the car park.  There is plenty of parking at the cost of £2.40 per day - the meters take cash or 

there is a Mipermit App which you could download in advance – the carpark number is 711028

You will see a white door at the back of the building, the sewing room will be open 15mins before the workshop and the door will be open from then (no need to ring the bell).  If you arrive earlier there are lots of cafes just around the corner from the Sewing Room where you can get a cup of tea while you wait.

Arriving by train

From London Waterloo to Haslemere takes around 50 minutes with a further 15 minute
taxi ride to the sewing room

Gatwick: 35 miles
Heathrow: 46 miles
Central London: 53 miles
Main Line Station: 7 miles (Haslemere)
