Introduction to Draping With Wendy Gardiner - 21st & 22nd August 2025
Drape on a Stand
Learn to drape and make a garment without a pattern – just by draping on a stand. In this day class you will learn the basics of draping, pinning, cutting and then sewing your own stylish garment without using a pattern! This is perfect for those wishing to expand their dressmaking skills and make something that is truly unique to you. Also ideal for those that have done Wendy's Body Double Class.
What you will need to bring
- Body Double/or dressmakers dummy
- 2-3m of fabric of your choice (easiest to drape is soft stretch fabrics, or polyester/viscose)
- Sewing kit, thread, dressmaking shears, scissors etc. Plenty of pins (preferably ones with glass heads).
- Marking pencils/chalk/fade-away – whichever you prefer
- Lightweight interfacing (50cm)
- Notepad/pen
Make a Stretch Dress or Top with Cowl or Bateaux Neck
Learn to use just two measurements to plot out a dress, create your own pattern and then make a stretch knit dress in a day. Whilst doing this, you will be learning about sewing with stretch fabrics, what stitch and needle to use, how and when to neaten seams. You can choose to make it with a cowl neck, so flattering for every woman, or a simple bateaux neck. This is so simple to run up and so comfortable to wear you'll be making them again and again!
What you need to bring
- 2-3m of stretch fabric (depending on your size)
- Pattern Paper (I prefer Swedish Tracing Paper that can be pinned and sewn together if required)
- Thread to match fabric
- Ball point and Stretch needles (size 80/12)
- Sewing kit including, tape measure, marking pens and good pins
- Long ruler
- Notebook and pen
