Join Sarah de Rousset-Hall for a one day workshop to learn how to embellish and customise your clothes or linens with embroidery.

During the morning session you will focus on practising various embroidery stitches on a sample hoop of white Irish linen and trying out combinations of stitches to create small motifs.

In the afternoon session Sarah will work with you to design your own motif or monogram to be worked on to a linen napkin.

The class will also cover how to apply your designs to fabric and how to frame up you linens or clothes so that you can stitch onto them

You class kit box will include everything you need to participate in the class including various sized embroidery hoops and a seat frame, Irish linen and a linen napkin for practising on, 6 skeins of hand dyed embroidery threads from Paintbox threads in pastel colours and white, and a water soluble fabric pen.

Stitches covered: Stem Stitch, Chain Stitch, Whipped Chain Stitch, Feathered Chain Stitch, Trailing, French Knots.

These stitches are particularly useful for making small motifs and monograms that you might wish to add to your handkerchief, napkins, pillowcases or shirts.

You are welcome to bring along your own items to stitch your designs on (high thread count cotton or linen fabrics are the most suitable).
