Sew-Along - The Box Pleat Shirt starts 14th October 2021
Sew Alongs started during Lockdown and proved to be a great way for us to get together and sew. I have decided to keep them going when the Midhurst Sewing Room re-opens.
Trend Patterns have a great range of designs, I thought a shirt with a bit of extra detail would be a fun make.
This shirt has a straight silhouette. Box pleats across the front panels are simplistically tacked closed over the bust to the waist giving a slight flare at the hem as the pleats open. The traditional elements are a concealed placket in the front, a set in shirt style sleeve, with a delicate bound cuff placket and narrow fitted cuff detail. The collar is a stand only for a clean minimal look.

There is also a kit available if you fancy making a classic white shirt

This sew-along will take place on Zoom, I will send out the link to join the Sew-Along the day before.
Let's have fun and make a lovely shirt :)
Materials Needed: 230cm of 155cm wide woven fabric, 9 x Buttons, 30cm fusible interfacing, matching thread
Before the Sew-Along: there are a few things you can prepare before the day of the Sew-Along. Gather your tools together, wind a bobbin and thread your machine. We will probably finish the seams with French Seams but if you would like to use your overlocker you could also thread this up. Pre-wash or steam your fabric. Roughly cut out your pattern pieces to separate them.
