While we are all at home I thought it would be nice to sew along together.

As we have some more time at home this is the perfect opportunity for some slow sewing.

On this sew along learn the Couture techniques needed to work with a fabric such as Linton Tweed.

Learn how to stabilise this tricky fabric, add underlining and lining, insert a zip by hand and create beautiful hanging loops like those found on designer garments.

Choose your favourite skirt pattern, ideally a pencil skirt with a waistband and back zip and I will give you tips on how to add couture details.

This sew-along will take place on Zoom, I will send out the link to join the Sew-Along the day before.

Let's have fun and make a couture skirt :)

Materials Needed: In Couture Sewing the fabric amounts are worked out a little differently to allow for the fabric being more difficult to work with.

To decide how much you need, measure the finished length you would like your skirt to be and add 10cm (4"), if your fabric is 150cm (60") you will need this amount plus 10cm (4") for the waistband.

You will need the same amount of lining and silk organza plus a 20cm (8") zip and matching threads

Ideal fabrics for this workshop would be Linton Tweed and Silk Crepe de Chine - if you would like any advice on fabrics please do get in touch

Before the Sew-Along: there are a few things you can prepare before the day of the Sew-Along.  Gather your tools together, wind a bobbin and thread your machine.  You could also thread up your overlocker if you have one.  Pre-wash or steam your fabric.  Roughly cut out your pattern pieces to separate them.
