Sew-Along - The Tunic Bible - 7th & 8th April 2021
While we are all at home I thought it would be nice to sew along together.
The Tunic Bible is a great book and is always a popular workshop here in the Sewing Room.
The Tunic Bible by Sarah Gunn (Goodbye Valentino) & Julie Starr is a fantastic concept - the basic bodice pattern is the same for all styles so once you have the fit right for this you can choose from a different style of neck placket, collar or sleeve variations. You can make it as a tunic or a longer dress, from woven or stretch fabrics
The hardest part of this workshop is choosing which options to make.
You will need a copy of The Tunic Bible Book, fabric and notions.
This sew-along will take place on Zoom, I will send you a link and more information the day before.
Let's have fun and make a tunic :)
Materials Needed: The great thing about The Tunic Bible is the amount of choice you have. You can make a standard tunic length with long or short sleeves, decide to have a placket inside or outside, a small or large collar or you could choose to make your tunic more fitted with a zip or even full length.
Here is a guide to give you an idea of how much fabric you will need to bring.
For a standard length tunic with an inside placket, you will need to bring 1.6m of 150cm wide fabric, 50cm woven fusible interfacing & matching Thread.
Extra Fabric Requirements for optional additions
Contrast lower band & cuffs - 50cm
Contrast outside placket - 50cm
Ruffle Cuff - 70cm
Ruffle neckline - 50cm
Dress Length - 30cm
Maxi length - 70cm
Before the Sew-Along: there are a few things you can prepare before the day of the Sew-Along. Gather your tools together, wind a bobbin and thread your machine. You could also thread up your overlocker if you have one. Pre-wash or steam your fabric. Trace your pattern pieces.
