Tambour Beading with Justine Bonenfant - 5th & 6th August 2023 FULLY BOOKED
Two day - Introduction to tambour beading workshop
Be immersed in the World of Couture embroidery by discovering the beautiful and timeless art of tambour beading.
Add an extra skill to your bow with this fun and relaxing embroidery course!
During this two-day course, you will be introduced to the intricate art that is tambour beading. Tambour beading is a special embroidery technique which consists of using a small hook to create chain stitches and neatly applying beads and sequins to fabric.
Embroidery hooks originated in India and China before being used in France, in the 19th century. Today, the delicate work of tambour beading can be seen on most luxury catwalks such as Chanel, Dior and Louis Vuitton.
Along the way, you will learn how to set up a see-through silk organza fabric on a rotating sample frame. Then, you will practise the chain stitch with the hook in every direction, before moving on to the bow design. You will use fine couture materials such as glass beads, bugles and sequins and learn how to attach them to your delicate fabric.
You will be shown couture samples to get inspired and see how this beautiful and rewarding technique can be used. Tambour beading is a challenging technique to learn but the results are highly rewarding!
Beginner? Don't worry, you don't need any prior embroidery or beading skills to come along and get creative with this craft course! Your friendly teacher will be there to offer on-hand support throughout.
You may not finish your bow during the class but you will be shown all the techniques to be able to finish your project later, at your own pace. Walk away from this course with a new skill and maybe a new favourite hobby!
