The Dressmaker’s Portfolio - introduction to pattern cutting & design runs over 8 days in June & July.  Students will learn the skills needed to start to design and create a handmade wardrobe. 

Based on the Moulage technique, you will be able to start to design your own clothes or use what you learn to alter commercial patterns, you do not have to complete previous levels to take this course but you will need a good understanding of dressmaking and construction

In Part One we will be concentrating on making a blouse or dress with a sleeve, there will be follow-up workshops for more techniques like jackets & coats and more sleeve designs.

-      Storage Cupboard in the Sewing Room

TUTORIALS/PATTERN CUTTING WORKSHOP

Pattern cutting/design workshops will be on a Wednesday & Thursday 10–3 pm, each week. 

During the day you will learn pattern-cutting and design techniques and make samples

This is also a time for you to ask for help with projects you are planning.

What You Need To Bring: The Sewing Room is fully equipped with Janome Sewing Machines and Overlockers as well as all the tools you need to complete your project.  You are very welcome to bring your own machine and sewing box if you wish.

Materials Needed: You will need tracing paper & at least 3m of calico
