I have found the best supplier of Leather is a company called GH Leathers, their website is www.leathermerchants.com and their phone number is 01933311116.
The leather you would need is lamb Nappa, the hides are around £2.30 (plus VAT) per sq ft, hides are on average 9sqft and you would need 3/4 hides for the jacket. I have used 3 for my sample. This company are really helpful if you did order 4 and only use 3 you can send one back. Here is a link to their shade card so you can see there is lots to choose from.
