Sewing News From The Midhurst Sewing Room

I hope you are safe and well in these difficult times

I wanted to update you on what we have been up to in Midhurst - well actually we are not in the Sewing Room at the moment but running things from home.

The last few weeks have been very busy while we try to adapt to our "new normal"

At the start of the lock-down we had to postpone our two Sewing Retreats which would have been held in Brighton, the first at the beginning of March and The Maker's Atelier Retreat which would have been taking place next week.  Thank you to all of those who have been able to transfer to the new dates next year, I understand that these are uncertain times and I appreciate your support.  The dates for next years Retreats are on the website - something to look forward too

As soon as we were able to we decided  to start filming.  Every Saturday at Mid Day you can find us on Facebook with our regular Facebook Lives.  Here Amy & I will update you on what we have been doing and what is coming up and there is usually a demo of a Sewing Technique.  It is a great way to keep in touch and have a chat with everyone.  Click here to see last weeks Live - talking about Couture

We have started a YouTube Channel and we are uploading tips and technique videos every week.  The latest videos are how to make Scrubs for the NHS as well as laundry bags to go with them. We are getting better at it - the first ones took a while - here is our Out Takes video to make you smile

With my fabulous Dream Team, who usually work with me on costumes for Goodwood, I am busy making scrubs for local hospitals and GP surgeries - it feels really good to be helping - even in a small way.  There are lots of groups on facebook where you find more information if you would like to help too.

We have also filmed several Online Workshops which are available to book on the website.  As we can't be in The Sewing Room we thought it would be nice to bring the workshops to you.  Available now are
The Maker's Atelier Raw Edge Coat, The Classic T-Shirt, Full Bust Adjustment and The Classic Blazer.  Click on the pictures below to find more details and book.

The latest video is for The Couture Jacket.  As we have a bit more time at the moment I thought this would be a good opportunity for some slow sewing and a chance to add a Couture Jacket to my wardrobe.  I will be making my jacket over the next few weeks and filming the whole process.  There will be lots of techniques for you to learn and a chance to look at my own Haute Couture Chanel Jacket.  To book just click on one of the pictures below.

There is also the opportunity to book an online One 2 One with me - if you are stuck on a project or would like to have a technique demonstrated you can book half an hour, 1 hour or even 2 hours. Click below for more information.

We will get through this together and soon be back in the Sewing Room creating beautiful garments,  With that in mind I have been adding workshops to the website right up until April 2021 - lots to think about and to look forward to.  To see what is coming up click here

In the meantime, if you need any bits and pieces for your sewing project we are still dispatching haberdashery - I am going up to Midhurst once a week to fulfil orders so, if you need any interfacing or machine needles you can still place your orders on the website.

I am missing you all, Stay Safe

More News Soon, Happy Sewing
